Alchemy Works Seeds for Magick Herbs
Learn how to grow, cultivate, harvest and use various baneful herbs. Learn more
–> The very best way to develop your wortcunning (knowledge of plants) is to create a witch’s garden where you grow your own magick herbs. These are seeds of plants that witches, Pagans, and mystics of all kinds use and learn from (and lots of other folks love too!). Some are very friendly herbs; others are aloof, and the baneful herbs can be dangerous to us apes. But all have something to teach us. Seeds are listed here in alphabetical order by common name; throughout the site, seed pages are linked to each other in alphabetical order by botanical name. You can also try the search engine for help in finding seeds by their various common names or uses.
Each seed also links back to the ruling planet or Element (in pre-modern times, everyone, not just witches or mages, could identify the known planets in the night sky, so this was a handy way to organize magickal uses). Planetary correspondences allow you to judge more easily which spiritual entities to associate with a particular plant and which plants are best for what sort of work, be it in terms of traditional witchcraft, Wiccan rites, hedgewitch work, rootwork, ritual magick, Pagan worship, or just plain old enjoyment. Alchemy Works sells no genetically modified seeds, and most are open-pollinated, which means you can save seeds from the plants you grow and they will come true. Check out our Safe Seed Pledge to learn more.
Looking for a seed you can’t find? Just ask. You can also see a special list with instructions of seeds that need a winter . And check out Harold’s book: The Witching Herbs, now back in stock (all copies are signed by the author).

All domestic seed orders ship for a flat rate of $8.00. International rates vary. Click for shipping details.
None of the seeds sold by Alchemy Works are chemically treated in any way, none are hybrids (so you can save seed from the plants you grow and expect that seed to produce the same plant in your conditions), none are patented, and none are genetically modified. Many are harvested from wild plants, which means they are rich in diversity: they will not germinate all at once, flower all at once, or be all the same height. Alchemy Works seeds cost a bit more because they come from smaller farms, growers (including our own garden on occasion), and wholesalers that adhere to sustainable and organic farming practices (whenever possible). Unlike the wholesalers who supply highway beautification programs, Alchemy Works’ wholesalers supply growers, so germination rates are higher and the seeds are stronger than the by-the-pound stuff. To the best of our ability, Alchemy Works privelages seed suppliers that preserve heirloom varieties, foster native species, and work to protect Earth’s biodiversity. We are committed to supporting and promoting sustainable practices that use the limited resources of our shared planet in a just, environmentally-concious, and socially equitable way. This has been a foundational practice since Alchemy Works was founded in 2000 and that our new ownership is proud to uphold. let me know and I will work to get it for you if possible. –> Top

All mail going out of the US requires a customs label. We put "Horticultural/Garden Seeds" and "Commercial Sample" as the contents for all seed orders. Some countries have particularly fierce customs regulations and vigilant customs officers. No orders whatsoever to Israel (customs seizures) and Great Britain/United Kingdom. Seed orders to Australia and New Zealand are usually seized by your customs department, so I reccomend that you don’t waste your money. We cannot put false labels on any packages, so please don’t ask us to. We cannot refund for shipments that are seized. Top
Magik-Moss Seed Starter
Magik-Moss Seed Starter Potting Soil – contains both vermiculite and perlite potting soil additives
Magik-Moss Seed Starter is an all purpose, ready-to-use potting soil mix. This Seed Starter Media has been professionally formulated with a combination of peat, vermiculite and perlite potting soil additives to provide excellent seed germination and growth of young seedlings.
A general guideline is to plant the seed at a depth of 3 times its diameter. This will provide adequate contact with the seedling media and the seed to insure excellent germination providing, of course, other environmental conditions such as temperate and moisture are maintained in the media.
A weight and color change in this media from dark brown to light brown assists you in deciding when to water.
This media can also be used for continued growth of plants.
Note: This is the same potting soil mix used in our Professional Seed Starter.
