Carolina Reaper Pepper – Capsicum Chinense – The worlds HOTTEST Chilli Pepper – Seeds

The Carolina Reaper is a hybrid chilli pepper of the Capsicum chinense species, originally called the “HP22B”, bred by cultivator Ed Currie, who runs PuckerButt Pepper Company in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The Carolina Reaper was rated as the world’s hottest chili pepper by Guinness World Records according to 2012 tests, averaging 1,569,300 SHU on the Scoville scale with peak levels of over 2,200,000 SHU. The previous record-holder was the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion.

Important to Note.

Chilli peppers can be tricky to germinate and especially so with the rarer super hot varieties patience is needed as they can take up to 40 days to germinate in ideal conditions. We also recommend that a heat pad is used when germinating chillies of the Capsicum chinense species. All of our chillis are grown in isolation to avoid cross pollination. As chillis are rampant cross pollinators it is not uncommon for variances to appear in the fruit as chillis can cross pollinate with fruit from plants a few houses or kilometres away. The only way to ensure with 100% certainty that cross pollination does not occur is to use pollination bags on each flower when the plant starts to bud and before the flowers open.

Sphagnum Peat Moss

Regular price R11.00 Save Liquid error (product-template line 117): Computation results to ‘-Infinity’%

Sphagnum peat moss (SPM) is partially decomposed sphagnum moss. It’s large cell structure enables it to absorb air and water like a sponge. Although peat moss does not contain nutrients, it adsorbs nutrients added to or present in the soil releasing them over time as the plants require. This saves valuable nutrients which are otherwise lost through leaching. Sphagnum Peat Moss is derived from the slow decomposition of sphagnum moss which accumulates in bogs (or peatlands). Harvesters clear bogs of vegetation and then dig shallow ditches to lower the water table so that the peat will dry and that the equipment necessary to harvest the peat can operate on the field. Once a bog is ditched, harvesting begins. Harrows loosen the top peat moss which then dries in the sun for two to three hours before being vacuumed into large harvesters. It is transported from the field to the plant where it is screened, graded and baled for storage or shipping.

Please note that the 200 litre compressed bales are Lithuanian Peat Moss.

Biogrow Bioneem – Organic Pest Control – Insecticide

Regular price R135.00 Save Liquid error (product-template line 117): Computation results to ‘-Infinity’%

The key insecticidal ingredient found in the neem tree is AZADIRACHTIN, a naturally occurring substance that belongs to an organic molecule class called tetranortriterpenoids.

It is structurally similar to insect hormones called ‘ecdysones’ which control the process of metamorphosis as the insects pass from larva to pupa to adult. Metamorphosis requires the careful synchrony of many hormones and other physiological changes to be successful, and azadirachtin is an ‘ecdysone blocker’. It blocks the insect’s production and release of these vital hormones. Insects then will not moult, thus breaking their life cycle.

Azadirachtin also serves as a feeding deterrent for some insects. Depending on the stage of life-cycle, insect death may not occur for several days. However, upon ingestion of minute quantities, insects become quiescent and stop feeding. Residual insecticidal activity is evident for up to seven days or longer, depending on insects and application rate.

Bioneem is used to control a wide range of insects (up to 200 insect types) including white flies, leafminers, mealybug, thrips, fruit flies, leaf hopper, red spider mite, weevils and many more. Azadirachtin is relatively harmless to insects that pollinate crops and trees, such as butterflies, spiders and bees; ladybugs that consume aphids; and wasps that act as a parasite on various crop pests. This is because neem products must be ingested to be effective. Thus, insects that feed on plant tissue succumb, while those that feed on nectar or other insects rarely contact significant concentrations of neem products.

Acute toxicity study of Bioneem to the Earthworm LC50 > 3000 mg / kg. Acute oral toxicity study of Bioneem to mice LD50 – 5650 mg / kg. Neem products are recognised in organic guidelines by IFOAM. Bioneem has been found to be compatible with most commonly used fungicides, insecticides and fertilizers. Physical compatibility should first be checked out. (Read label).

Do not apply in temperatures above 30 degrees C. Bioneem is an emulsifiable concentrate.

APPLICATION RATES: vary between 300 ml – 500 ml per 100 L water, depending on the growth stage of plant and insect pressure.

Available in 250ml and 500ml bottles.

The rise of the home-grown high

Cannabis plants are thriving in backyards and window boxes, reports Jason Bennetto

Police and drugs advice centres are recording a sharp upsurge in the number of people growing cannabis at home. Home-growers, using strong “skunk” varieties available through specialist shops and mail order, are exploiting a legal loop-hole that allows them to buy cannabis seeds and the growing equipment legitimately.

The cultivation of cannabis plants is illegal, but not the sale or purchase of seeds. Greg Poulter, deputy director of Release, the national drugs and legal agency, said his organisation was dealing with a record number of inquiries and cases involving cannabis cultivation. “We’re getting calls from across the country – a couple of plants on a window sill, to people converting their lofts and running commercial businesses,” he said

The most recent official figures for seizures of plants are for 1994, when the police discovered 57,800, an increase of 40 per cent on the previous year. It is normally assumed that the police will only recover about 10 per cent of the drugs in circulation – so there could be at least 500,000 illegal cannabis plants being grown.

Many cultivators grow the drug for their own consumption, but others produce crops worth tens of thousands of pounds to sell on the street.

Cannabis plants are very easy to buy and grow. A shop assistant at Sunlight Systems in Stratford, east London, offered a variety of seeds from pounds 40 to pounds 70 for a packet of 10, including the very strong variety nicknamed “skunk weed”. Growing equipment, which includes trays and a lighting system, starts at pounds 75. The shop’s “most popular” model costs pounds 180 and, according to the shop worker, is enough for “eight good-sized plants”. The assistant stressed: “We can sell you whatever you need, but it is illegal to grow cannabis.”

Four crops can be harvested a year, after which the leaves and flowering tops are dried and usually smoked. Cuttings and new seeds can be obtained from the old plants.

The police believe the present legal regime is a farce, making it extremely easy for DIY dope users. Anyone caught with a couple of cannabis plants is likely to be cautioned; 20 to 50 plants will probably bring a fine, but maybe a jail sentence. More than 50 plants will almost certainly lead to jail.

Detective Constable Peter Webster, of the Merseyside Drug Squad, has also recorded a big increase in Liverpool in the number of people growing cannabis. “We’ve been finding plants everywhere – in lofts, gardens, in cellars, and even in wardrobes,” he said.
