When looking to purchase CBD, the prestigious UK health retailers, Boots and Holland and Barrett are great places to start. Hemp seed oil is all the range now, but does it really help skin? I've put it to the test to find out.
Holland and Barrett CBD and Boots CBD | Honest Review
When looking to purchase CBD, the prestigious UK health retailers, Boots and Holland and Barrett are great places to start.
Boots has over 2,500 stores and is one of the UK’s most trusted brands. So, you can be reassured any CBD Oil in Boots has passed a rigorous litmus test, guaranteeing the CBD’s quality.
Natural remedy focused Holland and Barrett (H&B) is a big CBD fan. Founded in 1870, H&B now has a whopping 1,300 stores in 16 countries across Europe. Holland and Barrett places a lot emphasis on procuring a wide selection of CBD. Thus, it has a large offering, including CBD Oils, CBD Capsules and CBD Balms and Rubs.
What is CBD?
CBD is one of over 100 chemicals found in the Cannabis Sativa plant. Unlike its counterpart Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD does not produce a ‘high’ and is used in a range of medicines.
CBD is a malleable compound that can easily be formulated into a range of different products. Many of these vary in quality and efficacy. The most useful methods of taking CBD remain CBD Oils (when held under the tongue) and CBD Skincare.
Both Boots and Holland and Barrett have a range of CBD products. However, this review will focus mainly on CBD Oils, which can be found in both Holland and Barrett and Boots. This is because they are the most bioavailable – biologically efficient – ways to take CBD.
How Hemp Seed Oil Helps Me Fight Winter Dryness
I get the curiosity. It’s closely related to marijuana… but it’s NOT the same thing. They come from two different varieties of the cannabis sativa plant.
But how can it possibly help skin? I’ve put Boots Ingredients Hemp Seed Oil to the test to find out:
What’s In Boots Ingredients Hemp Seed Oil?
Yep, despite the name, there’s more mineral oil than hemp seed oil in Boots Ingredients Hemp Seed Oil.
It’s not necessarily a bad thing. Mineral oil isn’t as bad as people think. Sure, it’s derived from petroleum, but it undergoes a strict purifying process to remove ALL its toxic impurities (it’s illegal to put dangerous stuff in skincare, you know?).
Plus, it’s super moisturising. Mineral oil creates a protective barrier on the skin that locks moisture in for hours and helps protect you from environmental aggressors, such as harsh weather and pollutants.
HEMP SEED OIL
Derived from the Cannabis Sativa plant, hemp seed oil is loaded with moisturizing omega fatty acids, including omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid and the omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid.
What does this mean? These fatty acids strengthen your skin’s protective barrier, keeping it safe from environmental aggressors like pollution and harsh weather that can dry skin and irritate it.
They also keep moisture into the skin, helping it to stay supple and hydrated for hours on end. Oh, and it has plenty of Vitamin E tot help fight wrinkles, too.
Oily, obvs. But fairly lightweight for an oil and it absorbs quickly, too.
How To Use It
At night, as the last step of your skincare routine. You can use it in the morning before sunscreen, too.
Performance & Personal Opinion
Boots Ingredients Hemp Seed Oil has a lovely texture… when you apply it sparingly. A little here truly goes a looooong way.
I just use a couple of drops and massage them all over my face. Within a few short minutes, the oil is fully absorbed. No greasy residue remains.
Yet, it makes my skin so silky smooth. I’m not kidding. I can hardly stop touching my face. It’s as soft as a baby. All that extra moisture also makes it suppler, so my fine lines look a little smaller.
Oh, and it does a great job at keeping my skin soft and supple in the cold. We’re experiencing the last cold winds of winter, but my skin isn’t complaining. Despite the environmental assault, it’s perfectly moisturised.
By the way, this oil didn’t make me breakout. But if you have oily or acne-prone skin, I recommend you stay away from oils, just in case.
